RFID

RFID in the operating room

RFID chips allow a surgeon to see exactly which instruments he is using during an operation. In this way, the risk of losing tools is reduced even further and hospitals can save money.

During an operation, surgeons use dozens of devices: pliers, clamps, scalpels and so on. These need to be sterilized before surgery and during the operation an assistant keeps an eye on what is used when. For this purpose it is important to count the number of instruments. This costs time and therefore money, because operating time is expensive. Employees love the solution (3). In addition, it is much more sustainable (2). Much less surgical tools are thrown away, because instead of whole sets only those instruments that have been used frequently need to be replaced.
